This early variant presents the same likeness as the 1739 J. & P. Knapton edition but reversed horizontally and without the symbolic still life details of the arrow, serpent, and letters. Plate bears the inscription Houbraken sculp. on lower right. Housed in a small later frame of amateur construction showing wear
