Its main advantage over the traditional bascinet is that it is equipped with a neck guard, providing additional protection for the neck, making an aventail or camail no longer strictly necessary. Bascinets such as this offered extensive protection and were employed both on the battlefield and during jousting. The helmet is crafted from 2 mm thick steel and is well suited to reenactment
