Anglesey Sea Bass Diptych Gyotaku PrintThis bass was caught on a line by a local fisherman here in North Wales. It was caught on the Menai Stait. Bass are my favourite fish to print, the definition you get on the scales is wonderful. This diptych is printed on Chinese mulberry paper and each panel measures approx 20x25cm. I've used a high quality acrylic ink. Printing is just the first part of the process. After printing, the paper is cockled and wouldnt lay flat. With this print it has

I could see the details of the fish but struggled to get them to show up

It's printed on a Japanese paper which has been 'wet mounted' to a second piece of Japanese paper

Please note that for the purpose of photograph I have put it under a mount and it is not mounted properly so will lie flatter in a frame when done professionally

Then a backing sheet is applied to the print and the two sheets are left to dry overnight
